Ultrium LTO 2 A Trustworthy Media Cartridge


The world is facing very intensive challenge with backup and storage media information and its better preservation. The HP, IBM and Seagate invented Linear Tape Open the most reliable and successful media format which is exceptionally good, outstanding and proved to meet with all these the backup and storage challenges with very low per GB costs. The LTO1 was introduced back in the year 2,000 and since then it has been most trustful and consistent media format and offers excellent 100-200GB and 20-40MB/Sec data storage capacity and data transfer speed respectively. The first generation of LTO-1 becomes a huge success and therefore LTO consortium developed second generation with improved basic features and more dependabilities.

The Fuji LTO-2, has an improved with double storage capacity due to very high quality coating and metal particles selections and improved the base film with smoother and even surface and enable to have a 512 data track on half inch wide and 609M long tape. The highest recording density enables higher storage capacity with exceptional 200GB native and 400GB compressed and faster and secure data transfer speed of 40MB/Sec native and 80MB/Sec compressed with excellent 2:1 compression rate. The HP LTO 2 tape, offers a better improved servo system which enables high quality, accurate and stable read and write performance with decreased error rate.

The Imation LTO-2, cartridge has a built in 4KB memory chip which enhanced the overall performance of the media tape as well excellent compatibility with Ultrium 2 tape drives. The Memory chip able to have very important and effective information about the cartridge usage history and manufacturers index. The Memory chip helps Ultrium 2 drives and automatic libraries to access the preferred Sony LTO-2, information with very high speed through reliability and perfect security during load and unload processes.


The Ultrium LTO 2 media cartridge is consistent and dependable media format with high capacity and speed and better preservation of information.
